1UP
I nearly died in the Congo,
A few more days and that would have been it.
But then one random pain caused me to think again,
I got home before the worst of it hit.
Somebody gave me a 1UP,
Don’t know who, don’t know how, don’t know why,
But I’m sure gonna use it as best as I can,
And I promise I’ll never say die.
When I got back the pathway was rapid,
My diagnosis was quick to arrive,
A team was assembled, heroes they resembled,
Their mission to help me survive.
Because somebody gave me a 1UP,
Don’t know who, don’t know how, don’t know why,
But I’m sure gonna use it as best as I can,
And I promise I’ll never say die.
And now every day is a blessing,
Like before, though then I didn’t see,
I approach them with pleasure, for there’s no way to measure,
Why this gift has been handed to me.
Because somebody gave me a 1UP,
Don’t know who, don’t know how, don’t know why,
But I’m sure gonna use it as best as I can,
And I promise I’ll never say die.
